Active Networks as a Flexible Approach to deploy QoS Policy Based Management
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper describes a proposal for a framework allowing the interoperability between ISP management domains for the purpose of satisfying end to end user requirements based on agreed SLAs (Service Level Agreement). The paper considers future policy based enabled equipments and management centres based on the ongoing work undertaken in the frame of the rap (resource allocation protocol) and policy framework groups of the IETF. Policy based management enables automation of management activities in a particular domain. The objective of this paper is to investigate the possibility to merge policy based management with active networking paradigms in order to render more flexible the deployement of inter ISP policies. In this environment, capsules (active packets) will act on behalf of users or third party service providers, to obtain the best end to end communication services for end users. Thus we describe an architecture where capsules are used for service negotiation and configuration of physical network equipements. Different types of capsules and applications are considered to ensure interaction between a client and an ISP, an ISP with another ISP and finally between an ISP and its equipements.

A New Fairness Index and Novel Approach for QoS-Aware Resource Allocation in LTE Networks Based on Utility Functions
Resource allocation techniques have recently appeared as a widely recognized feature in LTE networks. Most of existing approaches in resource allocation focus on maximizing network’s utility functions. The great potential of utility function in improving resource allocation and enhancing fairness and mean opinion score (MOS) indexes has attracted large efforts over the last few years. In this p...
متن کاملAn Approach for Quality of Service Management
We present a translucent QoS management optimization framework for systems that must satisfy application needs along multiple dimensions such as timeliness, reliability, cryptographic security and other application-specific quality requirements. The architecture of the system consists of a semantically rich (in terms of customizable and expressiveness) QoS specification interface for multidimen...
متن کاملA Novel Fuzzy Logic Base Scheduling Mechanism for Service Differentiation in IP Networks
Quality of Service (QoS) refers to a set of rules or techniques that help the network administrators use the available network resources optimally to manage the effects of congestion and to treat the applications according to their needs. The differentiated services architecture (DiffServ) allows providing quality of service to users. The major DiffServ premise is that individual flows with sim...
متن کاملMiddleware and Management Support for Programmable QoS-Network Architectures
This paper focuses on management and middleware support for incremental updating of code and policies on various levels of granularity in time and space and on code deployment in vastly large distributed systems such as a networking infrastructure. In particular, we describe a middleware for programmable Differentiated Service (DiffServ) architectures. DiffServ architectures are envisaged by th...
متن کاملPolicy-based Management of Ad Hoc Enterprise Networks
Ad hoc networks are gaining more and more acceptance due to the potential of applications, the facility to deploy them as well as the cost economy in term of infrastructure. However, they introduce a lot of challenges in term of routing algorithms, QoS assurance, security, management and so on. The aim of this paper is to present a state of art of these technologies as well as the various probl...
